’08 Graduates Eligible for Citizens Scholar Awards

The Class of 2008 is eligible to apply for five Citizens Scholar Awards to be designated to graduates in Randolph, Tucker, Grant and Pocahontas Counties. $2500 in a combination of awards will be dispersed by Citizens National Bank of Elkins to help students pay for post-secondary education.

To be eligible for one of the Citizens Scholar Awards, a student must enroll as a full-time student and attend a West Virginia college, university or school for the 2008 Fall/Winter term. The selection of winners will be determined by the Citizens Scholarship Committee which will choose the beneficiaries based on the following criteria: Scholastic Achievement (Must have cumulative 2.50 G.P.A.); Extra-Curricular Activities; Qualities of Character and Leadership; Business/Career Interests; and “Why we should award the Citizens Scholar Award to you” response.

Applications for the Citizens Scholar Awards may be picked up in the schools’ Guidance Counselor office or at Citizens National Bank in Elkins, Parsons, Beverly, Petersburg, Snowshoe and Marlinton. Students may also apply online at www.cnbelkins.com and click on the Citizens Scholar Awards link. The entry deadline is April 18, 2008.

We take pride in investing in our community through partners-in-education, in-school banking programs, and scholarships.”

Citizens National Bank is also a participant in the Education College Grant Program which awards a total of $50,000 in college grants to 38 high school seniors. Applications for this scholarship may also be picked up in the schools’ Guidance Counselor office or at any CNB location.

Citizens National Bank serves as partners-in-education with Jennings Randolph Elementary School, Midland Elementary School, Beverly Elementary School, Tucker Valley Elementary School, and Pocahontas County High School.
