CNB Promotions Announced
William T. Johnson, Jr., President & CEO of Citizens National Bank, recently announced promotions and title changes for six CNB employees: Nathaniel Bonnell, Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer; Sherrie Holler, Vice President/Retail Banking Manager; Brenda Schmidlen, Vice President/Compliance/Bank Secrecy Act/Community Reinvestment Act Officer; Tanya Markley, Vice President/Human Resources Officer; Cindy DeMotto, Personal Banker (officer status); and Michelle Meek, Assistant Branch Manager/Petersburg Office.
Nathaniel Bonnell began his banking career at Citizens National Bank in 2000 as a part-time teller and transitioned to the position of auditing assistant while attending college. He was hired full-time in 2003 as the bank’s Special Projects Manager and in 2005 was promoted to Financial Reporting Manager. As Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer, he is responsible for managing, supervising, and directing the bank’s financial plans.
The new senior vice president graduated from Elkins High School in 1999. Valedictorian of Davis & Elkins College’s Class of 2003, Bonnell graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Accounting & Management. In 2003, he earned the designation as Certified Public Accountant, passing the exam with the highest score in the state of WV. He received a Master of Business Administration from West Virginia University in May 2007.
Bonnell was selected as D&E’s 2007 Outstanding Young Alumnus and is a newly elected member of the D&E College National Alumni Council. He is a member of the AICPA and WVSCPA.
He and his wife, Tina, reside in Montrose. He is a member of Mercy Chapel United Methodist Church in Montrose.
Sherrie Holler was hired in October 2006 as Branch Coordinator for Citizens’ branch offices. As Vice President/Retail Banking Manager, she is responsible for managing the retail delivery function of the bank. She is a member of CNB’s Relay for Life team.
A graduate of Tygarts Valley High school, Holler was certified in financial center management at the University of North Carolina.
She and her husband, Richard, reside in Belington and have five children: Amanda Reilly, Jessica and Katelyn Chenoweth, and Zachary and Sarah Holler.
Brenda Schmidlen has been employed at Citizens for 11 years and has been in banking for 25 years. She has held various positions including Head Teller, Security Officer, Insurance Sales Manger, and IRA Manager. In her current role as Vice President/Compliance/BSA/CRA Officer, she maintains the bank’s compliance program and oversees the BSA and CRA operations.
Schmidlen is a 1983 graduate of Elkins High School and attended Fairmont State College. She has attended schools of Insurance Services, Security, Regulatory Compliance, Information Security Services, and Bank Secrecy. She completed courses at National School of Compliance and Graduate School of Compliance Risk Management. Throughout her career, she has attended numerous other banking seminars and classes. She has served as an instructor for the West Virginia Bankers Association.
The new vice president is a member of the American Banker’s Association Frontline Compliance Advisory Board, Randolph County Farm Bureau and the WV State Farm Bureau. She serves as a Randolph County 4-H leader.
She and her husband, Walt Schmidlen III, reside in Elkins with their children, Walt IV and Brittany. She is a member of the First Baptist Church.
Tanya Markley joined Citizens National Bank in 2003 as an administrative assistant before assuming the position of executive secretary in 2004. As Vice President/Human Resources Officer she is charged with the overall administration of the human resource and development efforts.
Markley is a 1994 graduate of Philip Barbour High School. She has taken courses through Fairmont State College and the West Virginia Bankers Association.
CNB’s new vice president is a member of Relay for Life and the Junior Elementary School PTO. She is a volunteer for Robin’s Rockettes of Barbour County.
She and her husband, Charles Markley, reside in Junior.
Cindy DeMotto began employment at CNB in 1998 and was recently promoted to officer status as a personal banker, developing customer relationships by providing expert loan and deposit services. She formerly worked as an account executive in the bank’s Financial Sales & Services department and has served as the bank’s IRA manager for four years.
DeMotto graduated from Elkins High School in 1983. She has attended numerous IRA seminars and the West Virginia Bankers Association Lending School.
She is a member of the Appalachian Community Health Center board of directors. She and her daughter, Emily DeMotto, reside in Elkins.
Michelle Meek has been employed at Citizens National Bank for six years, having previously served as head teller, customer service representative, loan clerk, and assistant manager trainee. She has been promoted to officer status as the Petersburg assistant branch manager. In her new role, she will also work as a personal banker offering deposit and loan services to customers in the Grant County and surrounding area.
The new assistant branch manager graduated from Petersburg High School in 1987 and is currently taking courses at Eastern Community College.
She is a member of Relay for Life and the Knobley Church of the Brethren.
Meek and her husband, Mike, reside in New Creek. They have four children: Shawn and Tiffany Rohrbaugh, and Taylor and Nick Meek.
